====== New paper published in Nature Photonics ======

The paper "[[http://arxiv.org/abs/1311.1622|Experimental validation of photonic boson sampling]]", by theorists Ernesto Galvão, IF-UFF PhD Daniel Brod and collaborators [[http://www.nature.com/nphoton/journal/vaop/ncurrent/abs/nphoton.2014.135.html|has just been published in the journal Nature Photonics]]. This collaboration involves the experimental quantum optics groups of [[http://quantumoptics.phys.uniroma1.it/Sciarrino/Fabio_Sciarrino.html|Fabio Sciarrino]] (Rome) and [[https://www.fisi.polimi.it/en/people/osellame|Roberto Osellame]] (Milan). The paper reports the experimental implementation of a restricted type of quantum computer known as a boson sampling machine, which solves a computationally hard problem using multi-photon interference in a complex integrated interferometer. The data analysis relies on recently proposed statistical tests to verify that the computer is working as expected, which is non-trivial to do given the experiment's complexity.
