The paper “Experimental validation of photonic boson sampling”, by Ernesto Galvão, IF-UFF PhD Daniel Brod and collaborators has just been published in the journal Nature Photonics. This collaboration involves the experimental quantum optics groups of Fabio Sciarrino (Rome) and Roberto Osellame (Milan). The paper reports the experimental implementation of a restricted type of quantum computer known as a boson sampling machine, which solves a computationally hard problem using multi-photon interference on a complex integrated interferometer. Using recently proposed experimental tests, the data are successfully validated against alternative hypotheses, using recently proposed statistical tests.
